What is the use of benzoyl peroxide?
- Nov 29, 2018 -

Benzoyl peroxide is the most effective over-the-counter antibacterial product for the treatment of acne. It penetrates the pores to kill bacteria that cause acne and reduces skin irritation.

Of course, benzoyl peroxide may also cause skin irritation, but it is worthwhile compared to its benefits, and unlike other antibiotics for acne, it does not have bacterial tolerance problems.

The concentration of the benzoyl peroxide product is usually between 2.5% and 10%, preferably starting from the lowest concentration of 2.5%.

The 2.5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide is much less irritating than 5% or 10%, and the effect is not bad. If the 2.5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide is not effective every day for a week, try a 5% concentration product.

In general, if the 5% concentration of benzoyl peroxide is ineffective, you should first try the doctor's prescription (such as topical antibiotics with low concentrations of benzoyl peroxide), and then try to 10% concentration. Benzoyl peroxide product.

Studies have shown that benzoyl peroxide products with a concentration of more than 5% reach the upper limit of skin irritation and can cause dryness, exfoliation and inflammation of the skin. Obviously, the use of benzoyl peroxide in this case does more harm than good.
